Menyokong Bail Out 700 bilion, atau sebaliknya?
Mari kita mencampuri hal ehwal Amerika.
Rupanya masih ada spekulasi harapan puak Barisan Bail Out untuk menang.
Pakatan Taknak Bail Out akan lompat ke Barisan Bail Out?
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama called for calm after the House vote, saying the plan ``will get done.'' Republican nominee John McCain urged lawmakers to ``go back to the drawing board'' and come up with legislation that will pass.Kedua-dua calon Presiden adalah Barisan Bail Out

BalasPadamHere is the deal. No need to appoint me as an agent. I prefer being a Consultant, and giving an expert opinion on this matter that you, Hasbullah Pit, has been engrossed in it for a period between Ramadhan dan Syawal.
So send me the USD 700 billion first.

Apa saya yopinion baik punya, tarak nilai USD 700 billion ka?

BalasPadamJika saya “Agen Malaysia”:
Saya akan memilih pelan ‘bail-out’……tetapi dengan beberapa syarat:
- No bailouts without conditions and reciprocity in the form of stock warrants
- No more lobbying for any company that is bailed out
- No golden parachutes and get out of jail free cards for guilty executives
- No bailouts without public hearings
- Implement a securities speculation tax, starting with derivatives to deter casino-style capitalism.

************
Now where have we heard that before? ;-P
Menurutnya lagi, didapati bahawa pelan tersebut ”tempang” kerana :
- The bailout bill had NO enforcement provisions for the so-called oversight group that was going to monitor Wall Street's spending of the $700 billion;
- It had NO penalties, fines or imprisonment for any executive who might steal any of the people's money;
- It did NOTHING to force banks and lenders to rewrite people's mortgages to avoid foreclosures -- this bill would not have stopped ONE foreclosure!;
- It had NO teeth anywhere in the entire piece of legislation, using words like "suggested" when referring to the government being paid back for the bailout;

P/S: Selamat Hari Raya kepada Tuan Sebol….. :-)
Dulu, Obama asyik warwarkan dia tak undi "Authorization for Use of Military Force"...Power corrupts!
En Sebolku
BalasPadamI can't decide because I dun have the numbers before me. ;)
There are a lot of factors to consider:
1. What guides my policy -- America dominance or economic prudence
2. What's the fallout? I understand even the rich, greedy invst bankers on Wall Street can't value their securities.
3. Will the trickle down affect be as bad as some US media is making it out to be, like this NYT piece?
4. Printing money, essentially what the bailout is, requires the money to be backed by some real wealth. I understand the US country + household debts are at an all time high. Is the govt mortgaging the country? I mean what's the value of one US dollar now?
5. Since this is not the first time, is it possible to extract a pound of flesh from Wall Street?
6. Was this engineered by Paulson + the Bush admin to get some sort of pension fund, ie the 700 bil, before leaving the govt?
7. Are there other solutions?
8. Is the money as urgently needed as Paulson n co makes it out to be?
ETC.
Conclusion, can't vote now, cos not enough info.
;)
I vote for the bailout but with pre-conditions, and the bail-out must be 'main street' centric instead of 'wall street centric'.
BalasPadamAlhamdulillah, the bill has been passed with a 74-25 wins and also tax breaks and other sweetners, so expect Wall Street index to go up, other market and BSKL to go up.
